How to Edit, Reposition, and Compress Images in Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word allows you to insert and edit images in your documents easily. However, sometimes you may need to make changes to images to fit them into your document. In this article, we will show you how to edit, reposition, and compress images in Microsoft Word.

Editing Images in Microsoft Word

To edit an image in Microsoft Word, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the image you want to edit.
  2. Select theFormattab on thePicture Toolsribbon.
  3. Use theAdjustgroup of tools to make changes to the image. You can adjust the brightness, contrast, and color of the image, crop it, or add a border.

Repositioning Images in Microsoft Word

To reposition an image in Microsoft Word, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the image you want to reposition.
  2. Click and drag the image to the desired location within your document.

Alternatively, you can use the Layout Options to position your image more precisely. Here’s how:

  1. Click on the image you want to reposition.
  2. Click theLayout Optionsbutton that appears next to the image.
  3. SelectPositionin theWith Text Wrappingsection.
  4. Choose how you want to position the image from the options provided.

Compressing Images in Microsoft Word

Images can take up a lot of space in your document, especially if you have several of them. Compressing images can help reduce the size of your document, making it easier to share and save. Here’s how to compress images in Microsoft Word:

  1. Click on the image you want to compress.
  2. Select theFormattab on thePicture Toolsribbon.
  3. Click theCompress Picturesbutton in theAdjustgroup.
  4. Choose the compression options you want to use. You can choose to compress all pictures in your document, or just the selected picture.
  5. ClickOKto compress the image(s).
