How to Eat Prawns: 8 Steps

Prawns are a delicious and versatile seafood option that can be enjoyed in many different dishes or even on their own. Eating prawns can seem intimidating at first, but with these simple steps, you’ll be able to enjoy them like a pro in no time.

1.Choose the right prawns: When selecting prawns at the store or market, look for ones that have a fresh smell and aren’t slimy. The shells should be firm and glossy, with no black spots.

2.Store prawns properly: Keep your prawns in the refrigerator until you’re ready to cook and eat them. Keeping them on ice or in a sealed container helps maintain their freshness.

3.Preparing the prawns: Before eating, make sure your prawns are properly cleaned and deveined. For cooked prawns, you can easily remove the head, shell, and legs by pinching the head and pulling away from the tail. For raw prawns, you’ll need to use a small knife to slice down the back of the prawn and remove the vein that runs along its length.

4.Cook your prawns: Prawns can be boiled, steamed, grilled, or fried. To avoid overcooking, keep an eye on your prawns as they cook – they should turn pink and opaque when they are done.

5.Choose your accompaniments: Enhance your prawn experience with different dipping sauces or seasonings such as garlic butter, cocktail sauce, or simply with lemon wedges.

6.Hold the prawn correctly: To eat a whole cooked prawn, hold it by the tail and use your other hand to gently twist off the head. This will make it easier to remove the shell later.

7.Remove the shell: Starting at the bottom of the tail where it was connected to the head, gently peel away the shell and legs. This might require a bit of practice, but it becomes easier with experience.

8.Enjoy your prawn: You can use a fork to dip your prawn into a sauce, or you can simply pick it up with your fingers and eat it on its own. Savor the delicious taste of this scrumptious seafood!

With these easy-to-follow steps, you’ll be able to dine on prawns like an expert. Whether you’re enjoying them in a restaurant or preparing them at home, these tips will ensure that you get the most out of this delectable dish. So dig in and enjoy!
