Hatsune Miku is a popular virtual diva and the most recognized character from the Vocaloid music software program. Her unique design featuring aqua green hair, stylish headphones, and futuristic outfit has captured the hearts of many fans worldwide. In this article, we will provide a step-by-step guide on how to draw Hatsune Miku.

Step 1: Sketch the basic shapes

Start by drawing a circle for the head and add cross lines in the middle to help you align facial features later. Draw an oval shape below the circle for her torso. Add two lines from the torso to create her legs and ovals for her feet. Sketch circles for shoulders and smaller ovals for upper arms, forearm, hands, and thighs.

Step 2: Draw Hatsune Miku’s face

Outline her face using your initial sketch as a guide and draw her almond-shaped eyes below the horizontal line. Place one eye on each side of the vertical centerline. Add small circles for highlights, a curved line for her upper eyelid, and smooth lines for eyebrows. Draw an upside-down triangle for her nose above the horizontal centerline and create a small curve for her lips below it.

Step 3: Draw Hairstyle

Draw two long curved lines extending from each side of her head to form Hatsune’s signature pigtails. Add thin zigzag lines along the outer edge of pigtails to represent hair texture. Sketch two small triangular shapes on top of her head which will be turned into her “ahoge”.

Step 4: Sketch headphones and headband

Draw a thin band wrapping around her head above eyes level that goes under her pigtails on both sides. Create a small rectangle on each side of the band to form earpieces connected by another rectangle-shaped detail.

Step 5: Draw the upper body

Using your original sketch as a reference, draw her sailor-like collar with triangular flaps and a tie hanging down from it. Sketch a small chest piece above her breasts that includes her glowing number “01”. Draw arm sleeves that go up to her elbows, and on her forearms, consider drawing details such as extra straps or decorative elements taken from the futuristic design of her outfit.

Step 6: Complete the outfit

Outline a skirt attached to her waist area that flares out at the bottom. Draw matching square-shaped leg warmers with additional straps on her lower legs wrapped around her thigh-high boots.

Step 7: Detail and finalize

Add finishing touches to your drawing, including folds in the fabric for a more realistic effect and additional accessories like necklaces or bracelets if desired. Erase any unnecessary guidelines.

Step 8: Coloring

Color Hatsune Miku using aqua green for her hair, light blue for eyes, white and gray for the costume with black accents, and matching turquoise or teal shades for her tie and decorative elements on boots to complete your work.

With these steps, you should now have a beautifully drawn Hatsune Miku ready to showcase! As with any art form, practice makes perfect — so don’t be discouraged if your first attempt doesn’t turn out exactly as you hoped. Keep practicing and honing your skills, and you’ll be able to draw Hatsune Miku like a pro in no time.
