How to Draw Boxing Gloves: 7 Steps

Step 1: Sketch the basic shapes

Begin by drawing two ovals, one for each glove. These ovals will serve as the foundational shapes for your boxing gloves. Make sure the ovals are slightly tilted inwards and that they are parallel to one another.

Step 2: Add contours

Add some contour lines along the outer edges of the ovals to represent the curve and thickness of the gloves. These lines should be smooth and rounded, following the natural shape of a boxing glove.

Step 3: Create the finger compartments

Draw five curved lines at the top of each oval, representing the individual finger compartments on each boxing glove. These lines should start at the top edge of each oval and curve down, closely following the contours established in Step 2.

Step 4: Add wrist support

At the bottom of each oval, draw a rectangular shape for wrist support. Make sure these rectangular shapes are proportionate to their respective ovals and taper slightly towards the wrists for added realism.

Step 5: Create padding details

Next, add horizontal lines across each rectangular wrist support to create the appearance of padded cushioning. You can also add more curved lines along each finger compartment for additional padding detail if desired.

Step 6: Draw laces or straps

Depending on whether you want to illustrate classic laced gloves or modern Velcro strap gloves, draw laces or straps along one side of each wrist support. For laces, make several small x-shaped markings on one side of each rectangle. For straps, simply draw a long, thin rectangle extending from one side of each wrist support.

Step 7: Add shading and color

Finally, add shading and color to your boxing gloves drawing. Use darker shades along edges and contours to help emphasize depth and dimension, while lighter areas should represent highlights and exposed surfaces. Choose a color that best represents the material used in boxing gloves, such as red, blue, or black. Don’t forget to color the wrist supports and any additional padding details.

Congratulations! You now have a detailed illustration of boxing gloves. Practice these steps to improve your drawing skills and experiment with different angles, materials, and lighting to create more dynamic and unique depictions of boxing gloves.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
