Step 1: Choose the Animal

Begin by deciding which animal you’d like to draw. You can choose from a wide variety of animals such as dogs, cats, elephants, lions, and more.

Step 2: Gather Drawing Materials

Collect the necessary materials including paper, pencils, erasers and colored pencils or markers for coloring in your drawing.

Step 3: Study Your Animal’s Anatomy

Look at pictures or photos of the animal you’re going to draw. Observe their shape, proportions, and any unique features they have.

Step 4: Break Down the Animal’s Shapes

Identify simple shapes that make up the animal’s body. For example, an elephant could be broken down into a big oval for its body and smaller circles for its head and legs.

Step 5: Start with Light Pencil Sketches

Begin by sketching the basic shapes lightly on your paper using a soft pencil. This will allow you to easily correct any mistakes or adjust your drawing as you go along.

Step 6: Add Details

Once you have sketched out the basic shapes of your animal, start adding details such as eyes, ears, paws, tails or other features specific to that animal. This will give your drawing more life and personality.

Step 7: Outline Your Drawing

Using a slightly darker pencil or pen, carefully trace over your sketch to create clean outlines. Erase any unnecessary lines from your initial sketching stage.

Step 8: Add Shading and Texture

Use different shading techniques such as hatching or cross-hatching to add depth and texture to your animal drawing. This will make your illustration look more realistic and interesting.

Step 9: Color Your Drawing (Optional)

If you’d like to add color to your drawing, use colored pencils or markers to fill in the various parts of your animal.

Step 10: Sign Your Artwork

Once you’ve completed your animal drawing, don’t forget to sign and date your artwork. This acts as a personal touch and reminds you of when you created your masterpiece!

With these 10 simple steps, children can learn to draw their favorite animals in no time! Encourage them to practice regularly and experiment with various animals and techniques to improve their drawing skills.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
