How to Draw a Tree House: 5 Steps
Step 1: Choose your tree
Before you begin drawing, consider the type of tree you want your tree house to be built on. This could be an oak, pine, or any other tree that can support the weight of a tree house. Visualize the general shape and size of the tree, as well as its foliage pattern, to create a more realistic image.
Step 2: Sketch the tree trunk and branches
Start by drawing a vertical line for the trunk of the tree. As you reach the top of the line, begin sketching out the branches in various shapes and directions, creating a natural-looking structure. Remember that trees have thick and thin branches that extend out at various angles.
Step 3: Add leaves and foliage
Now that you have the structure of the tree completed, it’s time to add leaves and foliage. Using soft strokes or clusters of lines, draw the leaves surrounding your branches. Make sure to vary their shapes and sizes for a more organic appearance. Filling in gaps between branches with leaves will give your tree density and depth.
Step 4: Draw the tree house structure
With your tree fully drawn, it’s time to sketch out your tree house itself. First, decide where on the tree would be stable enough to build a platform. Create horizontal beams that connect multiple branches together as support points for flooring. Next, draw the floor of your tree house directly on top of these beams. From there, add walls, windows, a roof (you can get creative here – use materials like wood, thatch or even colorful tarps), and any additional features you’d like for your design.
Step 5: Add details and shading
Complete your drawing by adding unique details to your tree house—think about adding things like rope ladders, tire swings or hanging lanterns to give character to your creation. Additionally, you may want to provide a little shading to your tree and tree house. This can be done using pencil or charcoal, crosshatching (a technique where you draw overlapping lines), or stippling (using dots to create a shaded effect). Shading will help your drawing look more realistic and three-dimensional.
With these 5 steps, you now have a beautiful tree house sketch! Remember that drawing takes practice; the more you draw, the better you’ll become at capturing intricate details and mastering various techniques. Keep experimenting with new ideas and let your imagination soar. Happy drawing!
