Step 1: Choose Your Canvas

Select the surface on which you’d like to draw your 3D block letters. This could be a piece of paper, digital canvas, or any other suitable surface.

Step 2: Gather Your Tools

Make sure to have a pencil, ruler, eraser, and colored pencils or markers at hand.

Step 3: Plan the Layout

Decide on the word(s) you want to write and how much space you want between each letter. Sketch a rough layout to help visualize your design.

Step 4: Draw Rectangular Shapes

Start by drawing the basic rectangular shapes for each letter using light pencil strokes. These boxes will act as a guide for your letters.

Step 5: Sketch the Letters

Using the rectangular shapes as a guide, sketch out each letter in block style.

Step 6: Define the Edges

Using bolder lines, outline each letter refining its edges and shapes. Erase any underlying guide lines if needed.

Step 7: Add Perspective Lines

Lightly draw perspective lines that extend from each corner of the letters. Make sure all lines point towards the same direction and converge in a single vanishing point.

Step 8: Connect Perspective Lines

Draw lines connecting the ends of the perspective lines to create the illusion of depth for your letters.

Step 9: Refine Perspective Lines

Using an eraser, remove any overlapping or unnecessary perspective lines. Be mindful of keeping the vanishing point intact.

Step 10: Shade or Color Your Letters

Add shading or color to your letters based on your preferred light source. Focus on blending tones and emphasizing gradients for a more realistic look.

Step 11: Final Touches

Look over your completed work and make any necessary adjustments or details to perfect your drawing.

That’s it! You now know how to draw 3D block letters in 11 easy steps. Keep practicing and experimenting with different words, colors, and layouts to improve your skills and create impressive designs.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
