How to Do Tongue Tricks: 9 Steps
Tongue tricks can be an entertaining way to amuse your friends or simply a fun skill to learn. With a little bit of time and practice, you can master the art of tongue gymnastics. Here are nine steps to help you learn some popular tongue tricks and impress your audience:
1. The Basic Curl: This is the foundation for many tongue tricks. To perform the basic curl, simply roll your tongue into a U-shape by turning the edges towards each other. Not everyone can do this, as it requires a genetic trait called tongue rolling.
2. The Taco Tongue: Building on the Basic Curl, press your curled tongue against the roof of your mouth, creating a taco-shell shape with the tip of your tongue touching the back of your upper teeth.
3. The Tongue Wave: Keeping your tongue flat, begin at the tip of your tongue and make small, wavelike movements toward the back of your mouth by pushing upward against the roof of your mouth.
4. The Tongue Twist: Similar to the Basic Curl, twist your tongue by pointing one side down while raising the opposite side up, as if you were wringing out a towel.
5. The Cloverleaf Tongue: This trick is trickier and may take more practice for those who can roll their tongues. Fold the sides of your rolled tongue inward toward each other and push them past each other to make three folds resembling a cloverleaf.
6. The Lingual Lasso: Stick out your tongue as far as possible, then bend it around to touch both ends with its tip (forming a circle). Hold it in this position for several seconds before relaxing.
7. The Reverse Taco: Create a taco shape again, but this time with the bottom of your mouth instead of the roof; press upward from below with your curled tongue touching the back of your lower teeth.
8. The Tongue-to-Nose Touch: With your mouth closed, move your tongue up and backward as if you were trying to touch the back of your throat. Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth and try to extend it as far as possible, aiming for the tip of your nose or even nostrils.
9. The Ear-to-Ear Tongue Stretch: Stick out your tongue as far as possible on one side, and then sweep it across your lips, moving from one ear to the other while keeping contact with your lower lip.
