Marley twists are a popular protective hairstyle that allows you to showcase your creativity and personal style. They are versatile, low-maintenance, and perfect for all hair types and lengths. In this article, we will provide a step-by-step guide on how to do Marley twists, so you can rock this stunning look with ease.

1. Gather Your Materials

Before you begin, make sure you have the following items on hand:

– Marley hair extensions (choose a color that matches or complements your natural hair)
– A rat-tail comb for parting your hair
– A wide-tooth comb for detangling
– Hair clips or sectioning bands
– A spray bottle with water and leave-in conditioner mixed together
– Hair gel or edge control
– Rubber bands (optional)

2. Prepare Your Hair and Extensions

Wash, condition, and detangle your natural hair before starting the process. Also, soak the Marley extensions in warm water with apple cider vinegar for 10 minutes, then rinse them to prevent irritation from the synthetic coating.

3. Section Your Hair

Use the rat-tail comb to create clean sections in your hair. Start from the nape of your neck and work your way up, creating equal-sized sections that will soon be transformed into Marley twists. Keep each section secured with a clip or band.

4. Prepare Each Twist Section

Take one section at a time and spritz it with the leave-in conditioner mix from the spray bottle. Gently detangle with the wide-tooth comb and apply a small amount of gel or edge control product to hold it firmly in place.

5. Attach Marley Hair Extensions

Grab a piece of Marley hair extension and fold it in half to form a loop at one end. Attach this loop to your natural hair either by looping it around the hair section’s base and securing it with a rubber band or by using the crochet hook method.

6. Twist the Hair

Divide your natural hair and the Marley hair into two equal sections. Tightly twist each section to the right, then twist both sections together by winding them around each other in the opposite direction (to the left). Make sure to keep them flat and consistently tight throughout.

7. Seal Your Marley Twists

Once you have twisted all the way down to the ends, secure the twist either with a small knot or by dipping it in boiling hot water for a few seconds (please exercise caution during this step). Trim any excess hair if necessary.

8. Style Your New Marley Twists

Now that your Marley twists are complete, you can style them as desired. You can wear them down, up in a bun or ponytail, or create other intricate styles such as half-up half-down or side-swept looks.

With these easy-to-follow steps, you’ll be able to create beautiful Marley twists that are both stylish and protective for your natural hair. Embrace your creativity and enjoy your new versatile and low-maintenance look!
