1. Gather the needed materials: Before starting your finger coils, you will need some essential items such as a wide-tooth comb, a rat-tail comb, hair clips, water spray bottle, leave-in conditioner, and hair gel.

2. Start with clean hair: Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner, ensuring it is clean and ready for styling.

3. Detangle your hair: Using the wide-tooth comb, gently detangle your wet or damp hair to prevent any knots or tangles during the coiling process.

4. Divide your hair into sections:Use the rat-tail comb to part your hair into four equal sections. Clipeach section separately to keep them separate and organized.

5. Prepare your hair by applying leave-in conditioner: Lightly spray water on each section to keep it damp and then apply a generous amount of leave-in conditioner from root to tip.

6. Apply hair gel to the first section: Take a small amount of hair gel on your fingertips and smooth it over the first section of hair. This provides extra hold and ensures that the coils remain intact throughout the day.

7. Begin coiling on the first section: Separate a small piece of hair with your index finger and thumb at the base near your scalp. Using your other hand, wrap this strand around your index finger in a clockwise motion until you reach the end of the strand.

8. Gently slide off the coil: Once you have wrapped the entire strand around your finger, carefully slide it off while maintaining its spiral shape. Position it against your scalp before releasing it completely.

9. Secure with a bobby pin if necessary: If you have difficulty keeping the coils in place, use a bobby pin to secure them against your scalp.

10.Continue coiling all sections: Repeat steps 7-9 for each section of your hair until you have completed finger coiling throughout your entire head.

11. Allow your coils to dry: You can either air-dry your coils or use a hooded dryer on low heat setting for faster drying. Make sure not to disturb your coils during the drying process.

12. Finish off and style as desired: Once your coils are completely dry, you can add accessories such as headbands or scarves for a stylish look. You can also leave the coils as they are for a simple yet elegant appearance.

By following these 12 steps, you’ll have beautifully styled finger coils that add texture and volume to your natural hair. Enjoy the stunning results!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
