1. Collect all spent fireworks and unexploded ones: Once the fireworks show is over, and the area has cooled down, gather all the used fireworks as well as any unexploded or unused products. Be cautious when handling these items, and use gloves to protect your hands.

2. Soak the fireworks in water: Once you have collected all the fireworks, submerge them in a bucket or tub of water. Ensure the fireworks are completely soaked by leaving them submerged for a minimum of 15 minutes. This will help prevent unintended explosions or fires due to residual spark.

3. Double-bag the fireworks: After soaking, carefully remove each firework from the water and allow it to drain for a few minutes. Then, double-bag the wet fireworks using heavy-duty plastic garbage bags to prevent leakage. Seal the bags securely to avoid any accidental ignition caused by leftover pyrotechnic contents.

4. Find municipality regulations regarding firework disposal: Many cities have specific regulations and procedures related to firework disposal. Look up your local municipality’s guidelines online or contact your local hazardous waste management center for proper instructions on how to dispose of fireworks in your area.

5. Transport the bagged fireworks: Keep safety in mind when transporting firework wastes. Place them in a sturdy container such as a plastic storage box or metal trash can with a tight-fitting lid. This helps ensure their safe containment and transport during your trip to your local hazardous waste facility.

6. Dispose of fireworks at an approved facility: When you have everything packed and are following your local guidelines, take your bagged and containerized fireworks to an approved hazardous waste facility or designated location for proper disposal.
By taking these steps to correctly dispose of used or unspent fireworks, you can help prevent accidental fires, injuries, or environmental damage while enjoying a fun and safe celebration with friends and family!
