Step 1: Gather Your Tools

Before you begin, make sure you have a sharp knife and a cutting board. A pair of kitchen shears can also be helpful.

Step 2: Wash the Chicken Wings

Rinse the chicken wings under cold running water to remove any debris or visible impurities. Pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 3: Locate the Joints

Each chicken wing has two joints that connect the three main parts: the drumette, the wingette (or flat), and the tip. These joints are where you will make your cuts.

Step 4: Separate the Drumette

Hold the wing by the drumette end and wiggle it gently to identify the joint that connects it to the wingette. Once you find it, use your knife or kitchen shears to carefully cut through the joint and separate the drumette from the wingette.

Step 5: Separate the Wingette and Tip

Repeat this process for the joint connecting the wingette and tip. Hold onto the wingette while gently wiggling to find the joint, then cut through it to separate them.

Step 6: Discard or Save Tips

The tips do not have much meat on them but can be used for making stock or broth. If you don’t plan on using them, discard them in a waste container or compost bin.

Step 7: Repeat With Remaining Wings

Continue this process for each of your chicken wings until they are all separated into drumettes and wingettes.

Step 8: Season Your Wings

Now that your wings are cut, it’s time to season them according to your preferred recipe. Feel free to use your favorite dry rubs, marinades, or simply salt and pepper.

Step 9: Cook Your Wings

Once seasoned, cook your chicken wings using your preferred cooking method – grilling, baking, frying, or even using an air fryer.

Step 10: Prepare Your Sauce

While your wings are cooking, you can prepare your favorite sauce to accompany them. This could be a classic buffalo sauce, barbecue sauce, teriyaki, or any other sauce you enjoy with chicken wings.

Step 11: Serve and Enjoy

Once your wings are cooked to perfection, carefully toss them in your chosen sauce and serve them with a side of celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping. Enjoy your delicious homemade chicken wings!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
