Are you looking to add some sparkle to your makeup routine? Glitter tears are a fun and trendy way to make your eyes pop and create a unique look for any occasion. Follow these 12 simple steps to achieve the perfect glitter tears effect.

1. Start with a clean face: Before applying any makeup, make sure your face is clean and well-moisturized, creating the perfect base for glitter tears.

2. Apply primer: Apply a thin layer of eye primer to your upper and lower eyelids to ensure that your makeup will last longer and prevent any creasing or smudging.

3. Apply eyeshadow: Choose an eyeshadow color that complements your eye color and outfit. Blend the chosen color along the crease of your eye from the inner corner to the outer corner.

4. Define your eyes: Apply eyeliner along the upper and lower lash line, staying close to the lashes for a subtle look, or making bold wings for extra drama.

5. Curl lashes: Use an eyelash curler to lift your natural lashes and create an open-eyed look.

6. Apply mascara: Swipe on a lengthening or volumizing mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

7. Select the right glitter: Choose cosmetic-grade glitter that is safe for use around your eyes. Consider selecting small-sized glitter particles so that they stay in place better.

8. Decide on placement: Figure out where you’d like the glitter tears to begin – typically, start at the lower lash line or under-eye area, then swoop downwards following the contour of your cheekbones.

9. Add adhesive: Use a skin-safe adhesive or glitter glue that dries clear to secure the glitter under your eyes. Apply it carefully with a brush or cotton swab, making sure not to get any in your eyes.

10. Apply the glitter: Use a small, flat brush to carefully pat on the glitter, following the adhesive you applied. You can even create an ombre effect by using different colors or sizes of glitter particles as you move outwards.

11. Clean-up fallout: Use a piece of clear tape to gently remove any loose glitter from your cheeks or under-eye area that may have strayed during the application process.

12. Finishing touches: Apply a touch of highlighter along the top of your cheekbones to emphasize your glitter tears, and finish off with a bold or neutral lip color to pull your look together.

With these 12 steps, you’re now ready to flaunt your glittery look at any event. Just remember always to use eye-safe materials and be careful during application, so you shine brightly and safely.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
