Learning a new language can be an exciting and rewarding experience. One of the basics when learning any language is learning to count. In this article, we will walk you through the 12 steps to learn how to count to ten in Russian. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Familiarize yourself with the Russian alphabet

To learn to count in Russian, it’s beneficial to have a basic understanding of the Russian alphabet called Cyrillic. Take some time to study the alphabet and get comfortable with the letters and their pronunciations.

Step 2: Start with one

The Russian word for “one” is один (a-deen). Practice saying this word out loud until you feel comfortable with its pronunciation.

Step 3: Move on to two

The word for “two” in Russian is два (dva). Keep practicing saying один and два until you can smoothly transition from one to two.

Step 4: Learn three

In Russian, “three” is три (tree). Repeat the process, practicing saying один, два, and три.

Step 5: Count to four

The word for “four” in Russian is четыре (chee-ty-re). Continue practicing all the numbers together: один, два, три, and четыре.

Step 6: Add five

The Russian word for “five” is пять (pyat’). Keep practicing with all numbers до now: один, два, три, четыре, and пять.

Step 7: Learn six

In Russian, “six” is шесть (shest’). Keep stretching your counting limits by practicing all numbers until now: один, два, три, четыре, пять, and шесть.

Step 8: Count to seven

The word for “seven” in Russian is семь (syem’). Practice the sequence: один, два, три, четыре, пять, шесть, and семь.

Step 9: Add eight

In Russian, “eight” is восемь (vo-syem’). Include this number in your practice routine: один, два, три, четыре, пять, шесть, семь, and восемь.

Step 10: Learn nine

The Russian word for “nine” is девять (dyev-yat’). Keep practicing the sequence with all numbers up to nine: один, два, три, четыре, пять, шесть семь восемь and девять.

Step 11: Ending

In Russian, “ten” is десять (dye-syat’). Now you can practice counting from one to ten in Russian: один два три четыре пять шесть семь восемь девять and десять.

Step 12: Keep practicing

Learning to count to ten in Russian is a great starting point. Continue practicing these numbers out loud and apply them in real-life situations when the opportunity arises. The more you practice and use your new skills, the more comfortable you will be with counting in this beautiful language. Good luck on your journey!

Now that you’ve learned how to count to ten in Russian through 12 steps, feel free to explore more aspects of the language. Happy learning!
