How to Convert WEBP Images to JPG/PNG on iPhone

The task of converting WEBP images to JPG or PNG formats on an iPhone might seem challenging at first, but it’s actually quite simple with the right tools. The WEBP image format is known for providing high-quality images at smaller file sizes, but it’s not as widely supported as the more popular JPG or PNG formats. This can be an issue when you want to share these images or edit them using software that does not support WEBP.

Luckily, iPhones are equipped with a range of apps and features that make this conversion process straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can convert your WEBP images to JPG or PNG formats directly from your iPhone.

Using An Online Converter:

1. Choose an Online Converter: There are several free online services that can convert images from WEBP to JPG or PNG. A quick search will provide numerous options; select one that doesn’t require personal information or registration for privacy reasons.

2. Upload Your WEBP Image: Once you choose a service, use the upload option to select the WEBP image from your iPhone’s photo library.

3. Select Conversion Format: After uploading the image, choose either JPG or PNG as your desired output format.

4. Convert and Download: Initiate the conversion process and wait for it to complete. Then, download the converted image back to your iPhone.

Using A Third-Party App:

1. Download a Conversion App: Visit the App Store and download an app designed to convert image formats, such as “The Image Converter” or any other with good reviews and security policies.

2. Open The App and Import Your Image: Launch the app and follow its specific instructions to import the WEBP image from your photo gallery.

3. Select Output Format: Choose either JPG or PNG as the conversion format within the app.

4. Convert and Save The Image: Perform the conversion by tapping the respective button in the app. Save the converted image to your Camera Roll or Files folder on your iPhone.

Both methods are quite effective; however, if you frequently need to convert images, using an app might be more convenient once it’s installed on your device. Alternatively, an online converter is handy for one-time uses or when you prefer not to download additional software.

Remember that when converting from WEBP to other formats like JPG or PNG, there may be slight changes in image quality since each format uses different compression methods. However, these changes are usually negligible for typical use-cases such as viewing on other devices or sharing through social media platforms.
