Discord is one of the most popular communication platforms among gamers and creatives. It offers an array of features such as messaging, voice and video calls, and screen sharing. However, like any other application, Discord can take up space in your device’s storage. To ensure your device’s smooth performance, it’s essential to clear your Discord cache regularly. So, in this article, we’ll guide you on how to clear your Discord cache and free up wasted space.

What is a cache, and why does it take up space?

Before we dive into clearing the cache, let’s first understand what a cache is. A cache is a temporary storage location for files that an application or website stores for quicker access at a later time. Simply put, it’s a way for Discord to load faster by storing temporary files on your device. These files could be profile pictures, emotes, images, voice notes, and more.

While the cache files are necessary, they can pile up over time and take up valuable space on your device. Hence, it’s necessary to clear your Discord cache regularly to free up space.

Steps to clear your Discord cache

Here’s how to clear your Discord cache on desktop and mobile devices:

Desktop Device:

Step 1: Open the Discord application on your desktop computer.

Step 2: Click on the “User Settings” cogwheel icon on the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Step 3: On the left-hand sidebar, select “Appearance.”

Step 4: Scroll down to find the “Advanced” section.

Step 5: Click on the “Clear Cache” button.

Step 6: Confirm your action by clicking on the “Okay” button.

Mobile Device:

Step 1: Open the Discord application on your mobile device.

Step 2: Tap the “User Settings” cogwheel icon on the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Scroll down to find the “Privacy & Safety” section.

Step 4: Tap on “Clear Cache.”

Step 5: Confirm your action by tapping on “Okay.”

By following these simple steps, you can clear your Discord cache, free up space, and speed up the application’s performance.

We hope this article has helped you understand how to clear your Discord cache. By doing so, you can free up space, optimize Discord’s performance, and ensure a smooth experience while using the application.
