Cleaning a waffle iron can be a daunting task, but with the right steps, you can keep it clean and well-functioning. Follow these 12 easy steps to maintain your waffle iron:

1. Unplug: Always start by unplugging the waffle iron to prevent any electrical hazards.

2. Cool down: Allow the waffle iron to cool down completely before starting the cleaning process.

3. Remove excess batter: If there is excess batter stuck to the plates, use a rubber spatula or plastic scraper to carefully remove it.

4. Brush away crumbs: Use a soft brush or cloth to loosen and remove any crumbs from the cooking surface.

5. Wipe exterior: Dampen a cloth or sponge with warm water and dish soap. Gently wipe down the exterior of the waffle iron without letting water seep into the electrical components.

6. Cleaning non-removable plates: For waffle irons with non-removable plates, use a damp sponge or cloth to wipe down each plate, being careful not to let water seep into electrical areas.

7. Cleaning removable plates: If your waffle iron has removable plates, take them out, wash them in warm soapy water or place them in the dishwasher if they are dishwasher-safe.

8. Clean crevices: Use a small brush (like an old toothbrush) dipped in warm soapy water to clean hard-to-reach areas and grooves of the waffle iron.

9. Wipe down again: After cleaning crevices, use a damp cloth again to remove any remaining debris and soap residue from the interior and exterior surfaces.

10. Dry thoroughly: Using a clean towel or paper towel, dry all parts of the waffle iron including the cooking plates and exterior surfaces.

11. Reassemble: If your waffle iron has removable plates, reattach them once they are clean and dry.

12. Storage: Store the waffle iron in a cool, dry place to prevent damage or rust.

Following these steps will ensure that your waffle iron stays clean and ready for your next delicious waffle-making session. Regular cleaning and maintenance can prolong the life of your appliance, providing you with tasty waffles for years to come!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
