How to Change the Name of Your Apple Watch

Changing the name of your Apple Watch can be a great way to personalize and easily identify your device, especially if you own multiple Apple Watches or have several devices paired to your iPhone. Follow these steps to change the name of your Apple Watch:

  1. Ensure that your Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone. You’ll need to use the Watch app on your iPhone to change the name of your Apple Watch.
  2. Open the Watch app on your iPhone. This app is generally installed by default when you set up your iPhone.
  3. In the Watch app, make sure you’re on the “My Watch” tab. This is located at the bottom left corner of the screen.
  4. Next, tap on ‘General,’ then select ‘About.’
  5. On the ‘About’ screen, you’ll see the current name of your Apple Watch at the top. Tap on the name.
  6. When you tap on the name, you will see a text field with the current name highlighted. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the new name for your Apple Watch.
  7. After typing in your desired name, tap ‘Done’ on the keyboard.
  8. Your changes will now be saved, and your Apple Watch will have a new name.

Remember that changing the name of your Apple Watch does not affect its functionality or pairing status with your iPhone; it’s simply a way to help distinguish it from other devices in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi lists or within the Find My app.

Additionally, if you have more than one watch paired to your phone, you can rename each one following these same steps so that each has a unique identifier.

That’s all there is to it! After completing these simple steps, your Apple Watch will carry its new name across all settings and connected services.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
