How to Care for Your Nails: 10 Steps

1. Keep your nails clean: Regularly wash your hands and nails to remove dirt and bacteria. Use a soft brush or cloth to gently clean your nails and the areas around them.

2. Trim and shape your nails: Trim your nails regularly using a nail clipper. When shaping your nails, use a file, starting from the edge and moving towards the center. Avoid using a back-and-forth motion as it can cause damage.

3 Moisturize your cuticles: After washing your hands, apply a moisturizer or cuticle oil specifically designed for nail care. This helps prevent dryness, cracking, and hangnails.

4. Push back cuticles: Instead of cutting your cuticles (which increases the risk of infection), gently push them back using a cuticle pusher or an orange stick.

5. Avoid biting your nails and picking at your cuticles: Nail-biting and cuticle picking can damage the nail bed, potentially leading to infections or permanent nail damage.

6. Wear gloves when doing chores: Household cleaning products can be harsh on both your skin and nails. Wear gloves when doing dishes, cleaning, or gardening to protect your hands and nails.

7. Maintain a balanced diet: Your diet plays an important role in maintaining healthy nails. Ensure you are consuming enough protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats to promote strong nail growth.

8. Limit use of chemicals on your nails: Acetone-based nail remover and some nail polishes may cause damage and weaken the nails over time. Opt for acetone-free removers and non-toxic nail polishes when possible.

9. Take breaks from nail polish: Prolonged use of nail polish may prevent proper oxygenation of the nail surface, weakening it over time. Schedule regular breaks from polish to allow nails time to breathe and recover.

10. Consult a professional for any nail abnormalities: If you notice changes in your nail color, texture, or quality, it may be indicative of an underlying health issue. Seek advice from a professional, such as a dermatologist or podiatrist, if you have any concerns.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
