How to Call Austria: 8 Steps

Step 1: Find the Austrian phone number

To call someone in Austria, you’ll need their complete phone number, which consists of the country code, area code, and local phone number. Make sure you have the entire phone number before proceeding.

Step 2: Determine your country’s exit code

Before dialing an international call, you’ll need to enter your country’s exit code. For example, in the United States, this code is 011. In the UK and many other countries, it is 00.

Step 3: Enter Austria’s country code

Austria’s country code is 43. This will be the first part of the number you dial after your country’s exit code.

Step 4: Remove any leading zeros from the area code

Austrian area codes typically begin with a zero. When calling from abroad, omit this zero and only use the remaining digits in the area code.

Step 5: Dial the area code and local phone number

After dialing your exit code and Austria’s country code, enter the appropriate area code (minus any leading zeros) followed by the local phone number.

Step 6: Check the local time

Austria is located in Central European Time (CET), so be sure to check what time it is there before making a call to avoid potentially disturbing recipients during late-night or early morning hours.

Step 7: Consider using an international calling card or VoIP service

International calls can be costly. To save on long-distance fees, consider using an international calling card or a VoIP service like Skype or Viber. They often provide more affordable rates for international calls.

Step 8: Be prepared for potential language barriers

While many Austrians speak English, especially in larger cities and tourist areas, be prepared for potential language barriers during your call. It may help to brush up on a few basic German phrases or have a translation app handy.

By following these eight simple steps, you’ll be able to successfully place a call to Austria, whether you’re reaching out to friends, family, or business contacts. Happy dialing!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
