How to Buzz Cut Hair

Introduction:

A buzz cut is a classic and low-maintenance hairstyle that’s perfect for those who crave simplicity and ease when it comes to personal grooming. Not only is it easy to maintain, but the buzz cut is also a timeless look that never goes out of style. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to achieving a perfect buzz cut at home, so you can save money on barbers and take control of your hair care routine.

Materials Needed:

– Hair clippers

– Clipper guards (different sizes depending on desired hair length)

– Comb

– Scissors (optional for trimming any longer hairs)

– Mirror

– Towel or cape

– Hairbrush

Step 1: Choose the right clipper guard size

Before you begin buzzing your hair, consider the desired length and choose the appropriate clipper guard size accordingly. Most clippers come with a few different guard sizes, commonly ranging from 1 (short) to 8 (long). If you’re unsure of the right size for you, start with a higher guard number and work your way down if needed.

Step 2: Make sure your hair is clean and dry

Thoroughly wash your hair using shampoo and conditioner, then towel dry to remove excess water. Clippers perform best on clean, dry hair as it ensures even cutting and prevents buildup in the blades.

Step 3: Set up your workspace

Find a comfortable spot with access to a mirror, either in your bathroom or near any other reflective surface. Cover the floor or surfaces around you to catch falling hair using towels or newspapers.

Step 4: Install the clipper guard

Install the desired clipper guard onto your hair clippers before turning them on. If this is your first time cutting your own hair, familiarize yourself with how they feel in your hand.

Step 5: Begin buzzing your hair

Starting from the front, use the hair clippers to cut your hair against the grain in a steady, upward motion. Work your way towards the back of your head while using a hand-held mirror to check the progress. Take your time and ensure every section is evenly cut.

Step 6: Trim around the ears (optional)

If you have longer hairs around your ears, you can use scissors or a smaller clipper guard to trim these hairs carefully.

Step 7: Check for missed spots and uneven areas

Once you’ve buzzed all sections of your hair, thoroughly inspect each area of your head using your mirrors. If you find any missed or uneven spots, go over them once more with the clippers.

Step 8: Clean up

Brush off any excess hair from your neck and shoulders and remove all articles used for hair collection. Dispose of them accordingly. Clean your clippers by removing the guard and using a brush to dust off any hair remnants between the blades.

Step 9: Enjoy your new hairstyle

Run your fingers through your freshly-shorn hair and embrace the low-maintenance lifestyle that comes with sporting a buzz cut. Be sure to maintain this style by buzzing it every few weeks as needed.

Conclusion

Buzzing your hair at home is a simple and cost-effective way to keep up with grooming without needing frequent trips to the barber. By following this step-by-step guide, you’ll be able to master the art of giving yourself a buzz cut in no time.
