1. Gather Materials:

Before starting, you’ll need a flat surface, such as a table or desk, and at least one deck of standard playing cards. For a taller tower, consider using more than one deck.

2. Create the Base:

Begin by placing two cards on the flat surface with their shorter edges touching. Ensure that the two cards create a V-shape with an inverted V opening on top. This is the foundation of your first triangle.

3. Build the First Triangle:

Place another card horizontally on top of the two cards from Step 2 so that its edges rest on the top corners of the V-shape formed earlier. This completes your triangle base. Start with building two more triangles side-by-side to strengthen your tower’s base.

4. Complete the First Layer:

Link the adjacent triangles together by placing a card horizontally across their peaks, creating a bridge between them. Repeat this linking process for all triangles in your base layer. Ensure each triangle is stable before moving to the next step.

5. Construct Additional Layers:

For each new layer, follow steps 2-4 while slowly reducing the number of triangles used in every layer as you build upwards. For instance, if your base layer had three triangles, build two triangles for the second layer and one triangle for the topmost layer.

6. Balance and Stability:

As you continue building upward, pay close attention to your tower’s balance and stability. Adjust cards as needed to ensure even weight distribution and reduce opportunities for collapsing.

7. Extend and Enhance:

Once you’re comfortable with these basic steps, feel free to experiment and expand your creative horizons! Add multiple decks of cards, incorporate unique design elements, or challenge yourself by setting ambitious height goals for your tower.

Now that you’ve learned these seven simple steps to build a tower of cards, practice patience and perseverance, and enjoy the satisfaction of watching your architectural masterpiece come to life!
