1. Cultivate musical talent: Developing your talent in music, singing, and songwriting is essential. Utilize online tutorials, take voice lessons, and hone your singing and playing skills.

2. Train your ear: Learn to identify chords and melodies by ear, helping you to improve your musical instincts and compose better songs.

3. Study music theory: Understanding music theory will give you a broad knowledge of how different elements of music fit together in harmony.

4. Develop a personal style: Identifying your unique style is essential. To stand out as a singer-songwriter, experiment with different genres, vocal techniques, and instruments to help you find your musical persona.

5. Write lyrics daily: Commit to writing lyrics every day to keep your creative juices flowing. Challenging yourself with prompts or focusing on personal experiences can inspire great songs.

6. Collaborate with others: The more people you work with, the more exposure you get to different ideas and perspectives; this will ultimately help you grow as an artist.

7. Record your music: Invest in equipment or use simple recording software to capture your songs in progress. This allows you to have a polished final product to showcase your talent.

8. Build a portfolio: Assemble a collection of your best songs in various formats (audio recordings, lyric sheets) that showcases the range and depth of your work.

9. Perform live regularly: Reach out for gig opportunities at local events or open mic nights at nearby venues, helping you build confidence and experience performing in front of an audience.

10. Network within the industry: Attend workshops, conferences, and networking events where you can meet other musicians, producers, or songwriters who may become important contacts in developing your career.

11. Build an online presence: Develop a website or social media profiles where fans and potential collaborators can easily discover and access your work.

12. Promote your music: Utilize various platforms, such as YouTube, Soundcloud, or Bandcamp, to share your music with the world, making it easy for listeners and industry professionals to discover you.

13. Seek out professional development opportunities: Attend workshops, seminars or enroll in courses to further enhance your skills as a singer-songwriter.

14. Be persistent: Success doesn’t come overnight; work diligently on your craft, continuously evolving and refining your skill set.

15. Stay true to yourself: Cultivate authenticity in your music by being honest about your emotions and experiences in your lyrics. Being genuine is a key aspect of being a successful singer-songwriter.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
