Steri strips are adhesive strips used to close small, shallow wounds. They are a great alternative to sutures for minor cuts and lacerations, as they are less invasive and promote faster healing. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply Steri Strips correctly:

.Assess the wound:Ensure that the wound is small, shallow, and has clean edges with no debris or dirt.

.Gather necessary supplies:Steri Strips, rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, sterile gauze, tweezers, and gloves.

.Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

.Put on a pair of disposable gloves to protect both yourself and the wound from any possible infection.

.Clean the wound with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to remove any dirt or bacteria.

.Pat the area dry gently with a sterile gauze pad.

.Peel apart one set of Steri Strips from their backing while holding them by their tabs.

.Position yourself in a way that both sides of the wound can be pulled together with ease using only your fingers.

.Begin at one end of the wound and pull the edges together gently so that they are aligned properly.

.Apply the first Steri Strip by pressing its center down onto one side of the wound while still gripping its tabs.

.Carefully stretch the strip across the wound while maintaining tension so that it adheres securely to both sides of the wound.

.Press down on the entire length of the strip to ensure firm adhesion. Smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles for an even application.

.Repeat this process along the length of the wound, applying additional Steri Strips at least ⅛ inch apart from one another until the entire cut has been covered securely.

.Wait for a few moments before releasing pressure from the strips, as this may help the adhesive bond better.

.Check the wound daily for any signs of infection or complications, and change the Steri Strips if they become wet or dirty.

Now that you’ve applied Steri Strips successfully, it’s important to give your wound time to heal. Keep the area clean and dry, avoid strenuous activity that may cause the wound to reopen, and monitor it closely for any signs that may indicate a problem. Consult your healthcare provider if you observe any unusual symptoms or concerns during the healing process.
