How to Add Ringtones to iTunes: 10 Steps
Step 1: Find or Create Your Ringtone
Before you add a ringtone to iTunes, you need to have the desired audio file. You can either download a ready-made ringtone from a website or create one yourself. Make sure the file is in .m4r format, which is the standard ringtone format supported by iTunes.
Step 2: Connect Your iPhone to Your Computer
Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. This will allow you to transfer ringtones from your computer to your iPhone via iTunes.
Step 3: Launch iTunes
Open iTunes on your computer. Make sure that you have the latest version of the software installed on your system.
Step 4: Click on “Device Icon”
After launching iTunes and connecting your iPhone, click on the small device icon that appears in the upper-left corner of the window. This will take you to the summary screen for your iPhone.
Step 5: Select “Tones”
In your iPhone’s summary page, click on “Tones” from the left side menu. If this option isn’t visible, go to Edit > Preferences > General and check “Tones” under “Show in Sidebar.”
Step 6: Drag and Drop Your Ringtone
Locate your desired .m4r ringtone file on your computer, then drag and drop this file into the “Tones” section of iTunes.
Step 7: Sync Your Ringtones
Once you’ve added the ringtone(s) to iTunes, click on “Sync” at the bottom-right corner of the window. This will sync ringtones from iTunes to your iPhone.
Step 8: Disconnect Your iPhone
Once syncing is complete, safely disconnect your iPhone from the computer by clicking on the eject icon next to your device’s name in iTunes.
Step 9: Set Your New Ringtone
On your iPhone, open the Settings app, then tap “Sounds & Haptics.” Next, tap “Ringtone,” and you should see the newly added ringtone in the list of available options. Select it to set it as your default ringtone.
Step 10: Enjoy Your Custom Ringtone
Now that your new ringtone is set, you will hear it play whenever you receive a call!
