How to Add Apps to Folders on Apple TV

Adding apps to folders on your Apple TV is a great way to organize your home screen, particularly if you have accumulated a large number of apps. By grouping similar apps together, you can create a streamlined interface that makes it easier to find what you’re looking for. Here’s how you can add apps to folders on your Apple TV.

Firstly, using your Siri Remote, select the app that you want to move into a folder. If you have an older Apple TV model that doesn’t come with a Siri Remote, any Apple TV remote or a compatible third-party remote will work as well.

Once you’ve selected the app, press and hold the touch surface until the app starts jiggling. This indicates that the app is ready to be moved. If you are using an older Apple TV remote or third-party remote, press and hold the Select button instead.

While the app is jiggling, use the touch surface on your Siri Remote to drag the app onto another app that you’d like it to share a folder with. When they overlap, a folder will be automatically created by the tvOS.

Once the folder is created, release the touch surface and tvOS will display the new folder with both apps in it. You can then click on the folder to open it.

To add more apps into this new folder, repeat the process of pressing and holding an app until it jiggles and then dragging it into the desired folder.

Naming your folder is easy; when in jiggle mode within a folder, tvOS allows you to click on the name area at the top of the screen to edit it. Use your Siri Remote to enter your desired name for easy identification later.

After adding all desired apps into folders and possibly renaming them for better organization, press the Menu button on your Siri Remote to stop the apps from jiggling and finalize your organization work.

Remember that removing an app from a folder is just as simple as adding one. You select and hold until it jiggles and then drag it out of the folder onto the main Home screen area.

Now that your apps are neatly organized into folders, navigating through them on your Apple TV should be much easier and tailored according to your preferences or usage habits. With everything neatly tucked away into its own designated spot, finding what you need when you need it becomes a swift and hassle-free experience!
