Podcasts have become an integral part of our lives. Whether we are commuting, cooking, or just relaxing at home, listening to our favorite podcasts has become a routine. However, the automatic downloading of podcasts can sometimes be overwhelming, and it may end up taking a lot of space on our MacBook. In this article, we will explain how you can stop podcasts from automatically downloading on your MacBook.

Method 1: Disable Automatic Downloads in the Podcasts App

The Podcasts app comes with an automatic download feature that downloads new episodes of your subscribed podcasts as soon as they are available. To disable this feature, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Podcasts app on your MacBook.

2. Click on the Preferences button, located on the top-left corner of the screen.

3. In the Podcasts Preferences window, click on the General tab.

4. Under the Download Episodes section, uncheck the box next to “Automatically Download Episodes.”

5. Once you uncheck the box, the Podcasts app will no longer download new episodes of your subscribed podcasts automatically.

Method 2: Unsubscribe from Podcasts

Another way to stop podcasts from automatically downloading to your MacBook is by unsubscribing from the podcast. Follow the steps below to unsubscribe from a podcast:

1. Open the Podcasts app on your MacBook.

2. Hover your cursor over the podcast you want to unsubscribe from.

3. Click on the three dots that appear on the podcast’s thumbnail.

4. Select Unsubscribe from the dropdown menu.

5. This will remove the podcast from your subscribed podcasts list, and it will no longer be automatically downloaded to your MacBook.

Method 3: Delete Downloaded Episodes

If you want to keep the automatic download feature on, but want to remove previously downloaded episodes, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Podcasts app on your MacBook.

2. Click on the Library tab.

3. Hover your cursor over the downloaded episode you want to delete.

4. Click on the three dots that appear on the episode thumbnail.

5. Select Remove Download from the dropdown menu.

6. This will remove the episode from your MacBook, freeing up some space.

In conclusion, the automatic download feature in the Podcasts app can sometimes be overwhelming, especially if you have limited storage on your MacBook. By following the methods outlined above, you can turn off the automatic download feature or unsubscribe from podcasts, depending on your preferences. Alternatively, you can delete downloaded episodes if you want to keep the automatic download feature on.
