1. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a vacuum with a hose attachment, a dryer vent brush (preferably with an extendable handle), a screwdriver, and a cloth or paper towels for cleanup.

2. Unplug the dryer and disconnect the vent hose: Before you begin, make sure your dryer is unplugged. Use the screwdriver to loosen the clamp that holds the vent hose to the back of the dryer. Gently remove the hose from its connection.

3. Clean the lint trap and surrounding area: Remove the lint trap from the dryer and clean off any buildup. Use the vacuum hose attachment to clean around and underneath the lint trap housing, as well as any areas of visible lint accumulation.

4. Clean the vent hose and duct: Insert one end of the dryer vent brush into the vent hose, gently moving it back and forth as you push it through. Continue this process until you have thoroughly cleaned all sections of the hose. Next, move on to cleaning your home’s exterior duct by inserting your brush into the opening and rotating it to remove any lint buildup. Vacuum any remaining lint from both areas.

5. Reattach vent hose and plug in dryer: Once everything is clean, reattach your vent hose using a screwdriver to tighten its connection securely. Plug your dryer back in and turn it on for a test run to ensure proper airflow.

By following these five simple steps, you can help prevent dangerous fires and keep your dryer running efficiently for years to come.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
