Introduction:

The highly anticipated release of God of War: Ragnarok promises epic adventures and clashes, building on the rich and powerful narrative laid out in previous games. As you gear up to dive back into the world of Kratos and Norse mythology, it’s essential to refresh your memory on key story points. Here are some crucial events and details from the series that will help prepare you for what’s ahead.

1. Kratos’s Journey to the Norse Realm:

In God of War (2018), Kratos embarked on a mission through the Norse realm following the tragic passing of his wife, Faye. As he journeyed with his son Atreus, they faced various mythological creatures and deities, united in their quest to scatter Faye’s ashes atop the highest peak in the Nine Realms.

2. The Relationship Between Kratos and Atreus:

Throughout their adventure, Kratos struggled to connect with his son, Atreus, while also hiding a dark secret – his identity as a god from another pantheon. As they fought side by side, they grew closer and confessed their truths, strengthening their bond.

3. Baldur’s Fate:

There were many enemy encounters throughout their journey; among them was Baldur, Freya’s son and a powerful god who is immune to all physical harm. Balder becomes obsessed with finding Kratos and Atreus. In the end, Kratos was forced to kill Baldur due to an unfortunate misunderstanding involving Freya.

4. Serpent Jormungandr:

Kratos and Atreus encountered Jormungandr, a massive world serpent who takes interest in them during their journey. He aided them on multiple occasions, helping them navigate the world of Norse mythology.

5. Faye as The Last Giant:

Upon reaching their destination to scatter Faye’s ashes, Kratos and Atreus discovered that she was the last surviving Giant, and her death marked the beginning of Ragnarok. With her unique heritage, Kratos realized that Atreus was part Giant, part God, and part mortal.

6. Atreus’s True Identity:

Finally, it’s revealed that Atreus is actually Loki, the god of mischief and deceit in Norse mythology. It seems that Faye intentionally left hints for the two to uncover their purpose and role in the upcoming events.

Conclusion:

As you embark on this new adventure in God of War: Ragnarok, keep these essential story points in mind to comprehend the game’s complexities better. Will Kratos and Atreus prevent or trigger Ragnarok? How will they navigate through their intricate relationships with gods like Thor and Odin? Prepare yourself for an epic journey filled with action, drama, and revelations as you uncover the answers.
