Samsung’s Galaxy S series has been synonymous with top-of-the-line smartphones, and the release of the Galaxy S10 family of devices was no exception. Comprising four distinct models – the Galaxy S9, regular S10, S10 Plus, S10E, and the S10 5G – each phone offers something to cater to different users’ needs. In this article, we will take a closer look at how the specifications of these phones compare to one another.

Display:

The Galaxy S10 carries forward the Super AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution that was present on its predecessor, the S9. The evolution comes in size: while the S9 offers a 5.8-inch screen, the base model S10 increases that slightly to 6.1 inches. The larger sibling, the S10 Plus, bumps up to a 6.4-inch panel. Going for a more compact design is the accessible model of this family, the S10E, with a 5.8-inch Full HD+ screen. Processor and Memory:

Samsung’s flagship series generally boasts top-of-the-line components; all these phones come with either a Samsung Exynos or Qualcomm Snapdragon processor depending on your region. The RAM options also vary between models: Galaxy S9 at 4GB RAM (64GB storage option); Galaxy S10 and S10E offering both 6GB (128GB storage) and 8GB (256GB storage) options; while both Galaxy S10 Plus and the S10 5G include up to a whopping 12GB RAM (1TB storage) further expandable with a microSD card.

Cameras:

One of the most significant differences between the Galaxy S9 and the S10 series is the camera setup. The S9 offers a single rear camera (12MP) with dual-aperture capabilities and an 8MP front-facing camera. Both the base S10 and the S10E have a dual-camera setup on the back, including a 12MP primary lens (same as the S9’s) and an additional ultra-wide 16MP lens. The front camera also packs an additional punch with a bump to 10MP.

The S10 Plus adds a third rear camera- a 12MP telephoto lens- while also hosting an additional depth-sensing 8MP camera on the front. The behemoth S10 5G comes equipped with four cameras on its back, adding a 3D depth-sensing “Time of Flight” sensor to the same configuration as the S10 Plus.

Battery:

As expected given varying sizes, each model in this line-up has a different battery capacity: Galaxy S9 (3,000mAh), Galaxy S10E (3,100mAh), Galaxy S10 (3,400mAh), Galaxy S10 Plus (4,100mAh), and Galaxy S10 5G (4,500mAh). Despite these differences, all phones support fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging features.

Additional Features:

It is worth noting that all phones in this comparison support water and dust resistance (IP68 certified), USB-C connectivity, and stereo speakers. The Galaxy S9 series kickstarted the trend of the in-display fingerprint sensor technology which continues throughout all variants of the Galaxy S10 series.
