Catalonia, the vibrant region in northeastern Spain, is experiencing a surge in popularity as a filming location for top-tier television productions. From the sprawling landscapes of Disney’s “Andor” to the gritty urban settings of Netflix’s “Cobra Kai,” and even the coming-of-age humor of Max Original’s “Pubertat,” Catalonia is attracting a diverse range of series across genres.

This rising popularity is fueled by several factors. Catalonia boasts a wealth of stunning locations, from the rugged Pyrenees mountains to the sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline. The region’s diverse architecture, including medieval castles, bustling city streets, and modern buildings, provides a versatile backdrop for any story.

Additionally, Catalonia boasts a well-established film industry with a skilled and experienced workforce. This infrastructure, coupled with government incentives for film production, makes the region both efficient and cost-effective for international productions.

“Andor,” the “Star Wars” prequel series, utilized Catalonia’s diverse landscapes to create the fictional planet of Ferrix. “Cobra Kai,” the popular karate-themed series, found its urban setting in Barcelona, a vibrant city with a rich history and distinctive visual style. “Pubertat,” a coming-of-age comedy, captured the charm and energy of Catalan life, showcasing its quirky and relatable characters.

The region’s ability to attract such a diverse range of projects highlights its growing reputation as a global hub for high-quality television production. With its stunning locations, skilled workforce, and supportive infrastructure, Catalonia is poised to become a mainstay in the international film and television landscape for years to come.
