Electric F-150 owners used their trucks to run CPAP machines and a horse hospital amid hurricane power outages

As Hurricane Ian ravaged Florida, leaving millions without power, a beacon of hope emerged from the unexpected source of electric trucks. Owners of the Ford F-150 Lightning, boasting their vehicle’s impressive battery power, stepped up to help those in need, proving their utility goes far beyond just transportation.

One heartwarming story involves a Florida woman, who used her Lightning’s built-in power outlets to run her CPAP machine. “I didn’t know what I would do if my power went out,” she said. “Thankfully, I had my F-150, and I was able to keep my CPAP running and get a good night’s sleep.”

Another instance highlighted the truck’s versatility. A horse hospital in Naples found itself in a precarious situation, facing a power outage that threatened the lives of its patients. Luckily, an F-150 Lightning owner, who also happened to be a veterinarian, rushed to their aid. Utilizing his truck’s massive battery, he successfully powered essential equipment, keeping the hospital functioning throughout the storm.

These stories exemplify the F-150 Lightning’s ability to transcend its traditional role as a pickup truck. In the face of natural disaster, it became a lifeline, providing much-needed power and solace to those facing the dire consequences of power outages. This unexpected heroism underscores the increasing role of electric vehicles in supporting communities during emergencies, showcasing the innovative spirit and resilience that comes with embracing sustainable transportation options.
