In recent years, smart home technology has taken the market by storm. Among the plethora of devices now available, smart thermostats have emerged as key players in enhancing home comfort and energy efficiency. Today, we compare two sought-after models from Ecobee: The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced. Let’s dive into the details to help you decide which one is best suited for your needs.

Design and Aesthetics

Both thermostats boast sleek, modern designs with black touchscreens and versatile mounting options. Their 3.5-inch displays are easy to read and responsive, ensuring a user-friendly experience. The touchscreens display relevant information such as temperature, humidity levels, and icons for settings adjustment.

Temperature Control

The major difference between the two models comes down to their temperature control capabilities. While both devices offer auto-adjustment of heating and cooling depending on the room’s needs, the Premium model takes a more advanced approach. It features ecobee’s signature “Follow Me” technology that uses built-in occupancy sensors to detect presence in different rooms and dynamically adjust temperatures for optimal comfort.

On the other hand, the Enhanced model lacks this particular feature but still provides automatic temperature control based on pre-set schedules through its mobile app or web portal.

Energy Savings

Both thermostats are Energy Star certified and claim to save you up to 23% on your annual heating and cooling costs compared to a traditional thermostat. However, due to the extra features in the Premium model, such as “Smart Recovery” that optimizes energy consumption based on residents’ patterns and local weather conditions, premium users may enjoy higher energy savings.

Integration with Smart Home Systems

Both Premium and Enhanced thermostats integrate seamlessly with popular smart home platforms like Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. This allows for convenient voice-control capabilities and the potential to link various aspects of your smart home ecosystem.

Accessories & Installation

Both devices are compatible with the ecobee Room Sensor, which measures temperature and occupancy in different rooms to create balanced heating profiles. The Premium model comes bundled with one Room Sensor, while you’ll have to purchase it separately for the Enhanced thermostat. As for installation, both devices follow a standard procedure, with step-by-step guides provided by ecobee to ensure a smooth setup.

Pricing

As expected, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium fetches a higher price due to its advanced features and included accessories. However, if energy savings and convenience are your priority, the investment may be worthwhile. Meanwhile, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced presents a more budget-friendly option without sacrificing impressive temperature control capabilities.

Conclusion

When it comes to choosing between the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Enhanced models, it ultimately depends on your preferences and budget. If you’re looking for advanced features like “Follow Me” technology and additional energy savings, then the Premium model is worth considering. However, if you primarily seek reliable temperature control on a budget, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced could be your ideal pick. Regardless of which model you choose, both thermostats will help improve your home’s comfort and energy efficiency.
