Driver Dies Days After Suffering Injuries in Joplin Crash
On November 5, 2024, Leonard Vanatta, 82, of Columbus, Kansas, was involved in a severe car crash at the intersection of 43rd Street and Range Line Road in Joplin. Vanatta’s Chevrolet Camaro collided with a Chrysler Town & Country van. Despite being transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Vanatta succumbed to his injuries on November 10. This incident marks Joplin’s 13th traffic-related fatality of the year.
