Clicks Keyboard review: trading speed for well-made nostalgia

Spread the love

The Clicks Keyboard, a mechanical marvel crafted by the aptly named Clicks company, is a throwback to the golden age of computing. This isn’t your typical, modern gaming keyboard focused on lightning-fast responsiveness. This is a keyboard built for those who appreciate the tactile symphony of a well-executed keystroke.

From the moment you unbox the Clicks Keyboard, you’re transported to a bygone era. Its hefty, all-metal construction screams quality, and the iconic, clicky Cherry MX Blue switches deliver the satisfying feedback that once defined the PC experience. Every keystroke feels deliberate, deliberate, and satisfying, a stark contrast to the mushy, silent keys prevalent today.

The Clicks Keyboard is designed for the purist. There are no fancy RGB lighting schemes, no dedicated media keys, and no macro functionality. This is a keyboard that focuses on the core experience of typing. The layout is traditional, with a familiar, comfortable feel. The keys are spaced generously, allowing for accurate typing even for those with larger hands.

However, this focus on nostalgia comes at a cost. The Clicks Keyboard is definitely not for everyone. The loud, clicky nature of the switches might be distracting in a shared workspace, and the lack of modern features may be a dealbreaker for some. The Clicks Keyboard also lacks the ergonomic features found in more modern keyboards, which could lead to discomfort for prolonged use.

Ultimately, the Clicks Keyboard is a love letter to a bygone era. If you appreciate the satisfying click of a well-made mechanical keyboard and value the tactile experience over lightning-fast speed, then the Clicks Keyboard is a worthwhile investment. However, if you’re looking for a keyboard packed with modern features and are easily distracted by noise, you might want to look elsewhere.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
