Smartphone photography is growing in popularity, and for many people, it has become the primary way to snap memories without the hassle of a bulky camera. However, getting the perfect shot with your smartphone can be tiring, and sometimes a steady hand just isn’t enough. The good news is that you can quickly and easily make your own tripod mount for next to nothing, saving you the expense of buying expensive gear.

Here are three cheap and easy DIY smartphone tripod mounts that are easy to make and have been tested to work well:

1. The Binder Clip Mount

The first DIY smartphone tripod mount option is the easiest and cheapest of them all. All you need is a binder clip, a piece of foam, and a tripod or any other stable platform. Simply attach your phone to the binder clip and pad the clip with the foam, so it doesn’t scratch your phone. Then, clip the mount to your tripod or platform, and you’re ready to go. This is a popular option because of how easy it is to create, and it’s nice in a pinch when taking a picture.

2. The PVC Pipe Mount

Another alternative is the PVC pipe mount. This mount is perfect for those who need a more stable platform, and it works well on a tripod. To make this mount, you’ll need a PVC pipe, a PVC elbow joint, a bolt, nuts, and a small piece of plywood. Cut the PVC pipe to the desired length, and then drill a hole in the elbow joint so that the bolt can fit through it. Attach the bolt to the joint and attach the plywood to it for stability. Lastly, mount your phone onto the pipe using a phone holder.

3. The Clothes Hanger Mount

The final DIY option is the clothes hanger mount, which may sound strange but works surprisingly well. To create this mount, you’ll need a wire coat hanger, pliers, and a phone holder. Bend the hanger into a “U” shape using pliers and hang it in a stable location. Attach the phone holder onto the hanger and then put your smartphone in it. This mount may not be as stable as the others, but it works well for quick shots and basic photography setups.

Conclusion

There you have it – three easy and inexpensive DIY smartphone tripod mounts. These options are perfect for anyone on a tight budget but still wants to capture great shots with their smartphone. With the right materials and a little effort, you can have a stable platform that works great, and you’ll be wondering why you ever paid so much for a commercial mount. Just be creative and invent something of your own too!
