Since their debut in 2013, BTS has taken the world by storm, not just with their music but with their mesmerizing stage performances, especially at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). The South Korean powerhouse has delivered some iconic shows over the years. Here’s a look back at eight of BTS’s most unforgettable MAMA performances of all time.

1. 2014 MAMA – Boy in Luv

In 2014, BTS was still a rising name, but their performance of “Boy in Luv” showcased their signature high-energy style and crisp choreography. The raw intensity and strong stage presence they exhibited marked them as ones to watch.

2. 2015 MAMA – Run

BTS returned to the MAMA stage in 2015 with “Run,” a performance that displayed not only their development as artists but also a perfected sync in their dance routines. The powerful rendition of this song left audiences enthralled and hinted at the start of their future dominance in the industry.

3. 2016 MAMA – Fire / Save Me

Dominating the stage with dynamic renditions of “Fire” and “Save Me,” BTS showed off intricate formations and flawless execution in 2016. Their ability to transform the stage into a high-octane playground captivated fans worldwide.

4. 2017 MAMA – Not Today / DNA / Cypher Pt.4 / MIC Drop

BTS’s 2017 performance was a medley that took everyone on a roller coaster ride of emotions and beats. From the anthemic “Not Today” to the catchy “DNA,” followed by the rousing “Cypher Pt.4” and ending with the fierce “MIC Drop,” it was a showcase of diversity in their music and choreography brilliance.

5. 2018 MAMA – Fake Love / Idol

In a stunning display that combined theatrical elements with explosive dancing, BTS performed “Fake Love” and brought down the house with “Idol” in 2018. The traditional Korean elements threaded into their performances helped solidify their status as global cultural icons.

6. 2019 MAMA – Intro: Persona / Boy With Love / Mikrokosmos

A staggeringly complex production that featured everything from an introductory solo by RM to a heartwarming performance of “Mikrokosmos.” That year saw BTS push stages to cinematic heights.

7. 2020 MAMA – ON

Despite performing without an audience due to pandemic restrictions, BTS didn’t hold back for their 2020 performance of “ON.” They utilized an empty stadium to its fullest, delivering a hard-hitting performance that still managed to radiate energy through screens across the globe.

8. 2021 MAMA – Butter

Culminating with ‘Smooth Like Butter,’ BTS’s performance captured lighthearted vibes perfectly suited for such an easy-going hit. It was stylish, charismatic, and every bit spectacular—just like the group themselves.

Each year, BTS continues to outdo themselves at MAMA, leaving fans eagerly waiting for what comes next. Their performances aren’t just about showcasing their songs; they deliver experiences that resonate emotionally with ARMYs around the world while demonstrating unparalleled creative artistry on stage.
