Best Time Of Day To Work Out For Weight Loss Revealed By Scientists

The debate over the ideal time of day to work out for weight loss has been a topic of discussion among fitness enthusiasts and researchers alike. However, recent scientific studies seem to have shed some light on this query. According to these studies, the best time for exercise when aiming to lose weight may be dependent on one’s personal body rhythm and lifestyle rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Researchers suggest that working out in the morning can kickstart the metabolism, helping the body to burn more calories throughout the day. Morning exercisers tend to be more consistent since they complete their workout before other daily responsibilities can interfere. Moreover, a study published in “The Journal of Physiology” found that exercising before breakfast (in a fasted state) burned twice as much fat compared to exercising after eating breakfast.

On the other hand, afternoon and evening workouts also have their benefits. As body temperature and muscle function peak later in the day, performance might be enhanced during this time. Strength training in particular seems to be more effective later in the day, with evidence suggesting higher increases in muscle mass and strength compared to morning training sessions.

Furthermore, working out later might help reduce hunger pangs at night, which is beneficial for those who tend to eat more in the evenings. Plus, for some people, late-day exercises can also help blow off steam after a stressful day at work.

However, scientists caution against late-night workouts as they might disrupt sleep patterns, and adequate sleep is crucial for weight management.

Ultimately, the consensus among scientists appears to revolve around consistency and personal preference. Whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening, finding a time that aligns with your circadian rhythm and daily schedule is key. The most effective workout time for weight loss is less about the clock and more about finding a convenient time that allows for regularity and intensity in your workout regimen.
