Tater Tot Hotdish, a classic Midwestern comfort food staple, is the perfect dish to bring to potlucks and family gatherings. With layers of flavorful ground beef, veggies, creamy soup, and crispy tater tots, it’s no wonder this recipe quickly becomes a favorite in households everywhere. Let’s dive into making the best Tater Tot Hotdish your dinner table has ever seen.

Ingredients:

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 medium onion, chopped

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon pepper

– 2 cans (10.75 oz each) cream of mushroom soup

– 1 cup milk

– 16 oz package frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

– 16 oz frozen tater tots

– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with onion until the meat is no longer pink and onions are tender. Drain any excess grease from the pan.

3. Add minced garlic to the skillet with beef and onions. Stir and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

4. Season the beef mixture with salt and pepper as desired.

5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.

6. Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables into the soup mixture.

7. Now it’s time to layer your hotdish in the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture on the bottom of the dish evenly, followed by half of the soup mixture. Repeat these steps for one more layer.

8. Top with a single layer of frozen tater tots, ensuring even coverage.

9. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.

10. Remove from the oven and sprinkle on shredded cheddar cheese.

11. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

12. Allow your Tater Tot Hotdish to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm and savor the hearty flavors of this perfect comfort food classic.

Next time a potluck or a family get-together comes around, give this delicious Tater Tot Hotdish recipe a try! It’s sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it, and you’ll be receiving plenty of requests for seconds. Bon appétit!
