Kisii County, located in the southwestern region of Kenya, has been making headlines for its educational achievements. In 2024, the county’s national schools have demonstrated remarkable performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, illustrating the significant investment and focus on education by county officials, stakeholders, and the community as a whole.

Rising to the top of the academic charts is Kisii High School. As one of the oldest educational institutions in the region, it has long established a commitment to excellence. The school outdid itself in 2024, thanks to progressive teaching methodologies, technology integration in classrooms, and strong leadership. It led with impressive results across streams, particularly excelling in sciences and mathematics.

Right on its heels is Nyabururu Girls National School. Known for its consistent performance over the years, Nyabururu Girls stood out for its holistic education approach. The focus on empowering young women through education has paid dividends—evidenced by their exceptional KCSE scores that rivalled their counterparts across Kenya.

Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho also continued to build on its illustrious reputation with a performance that placed it firmly among Kisii County’s best. The school’s combination of disciplined study environments and emphasis on student mentorship have provided a conducive atmosphere for academic success.

Kereri Girls High School shined particularly brightly this year with numerous students achieving top ranks nationally. Their integrated curriculum that balances academics with extra-curricular activities has been pivotal in shaping well-rounded individuals who perform admirably academically.

Naikuru Boys National High School rounds off the list with commendable results that have surpassed previous years’ performances. Innovative strategies such as peer tutoring programmes and investment in educational resources have seen a marked improvement in their grades.

Together, these schools contribute towards a vision of quality education in Kisii County that sets an inspiring example for other regions in Kenya. Their exceptional results are not only a point of pride for local residents but also serve as a beacon of academic excellence that other counties can strive to replicate.
