Best Oatmeal Cookies Recipe
There’s nothing quite like a batch of warm, freshly baked oatmeal cookies. They’re the perfect balance of soft, chewy, and slightly crunchy. Here’s our favorite oatmeal cookies recipe that guarantees delicious results every time.
Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
– 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
– 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
3. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the butter and beat until well combined.
4. Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next one. Stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add the dry oat mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. If using raisins, chocolate chips, or nuts, fold them into the dough at this point.
6. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto your prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden. The centers may still appear slightly soft – this is normal and helps achieve that perfect chewy texture.
8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Enjoy your delicious homemade oatmeal cookies with a glass of milk, a hot cup of tea, or simply on their own as a comforting treat.
