When it comes to the perfect combination of savory, satisfying comfort food, it’s hard to beat a classic ham and cheese quiche. This dish is known for its scrumptious layers of delicious ham and gooey cheese, all set on top of a buttery crust and baked to perfection in a delicate egg custard. In this article, we’ll be sharing the best ham and cheese quiche recipe that’s not only easy to make but also incredibly delicious.

Ingredients:

– 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

– 1 cup cooked ham, diced

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

– 4 large eggs

– 1 cup heavy cream

– ¼ cup whole milk

– ½ teaspoon salt

– ½ teaspoon black pepper

– ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Instructions:

1. Prepare the pie crust: If using store-bought pie crust, thaw according to package instructions. If making your crust from scratch, prepare your favorite recipe or try this basic pie crust recipe: combine 1 ¼ cups flour, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ cup cold unsalted butter (cut into pieces) in a food processor. Pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly add ice water (about 3-4 tablespoons) through the feed tube while pulsing until the dough comes together. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill at least an hour. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and fit into a greased 9-inch pie plate.

2. Bake the pie crust: Dock holes in the bottom and sides of the pie crust with a fork to prevent bubbles during baking. Line the unbaked crust with parchment paper or aluminum foil, and fill with pie weights, dried beans or uncooked rice. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, then remove the weights and lining and bake for another 5-10 minutes, until the crust is lightly golden and set. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

3. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) until well combined. Set aside.

4. Assemble the quiche: Spread the diced ham evenly on the base of the baked pie crust, then layer with shredded cheddar cheese on top. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese to fill the pie crust.

5. Bake: Return the quiche to the oven and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until the center is set (no longer jiggling when tapped) and slightly puffed up. The top should be golden brown.

6. Cool and serve: Allow quiche to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing into wedges to serve. This dish can be enjoyed either warm or cold, making it a versatile option for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even dinner!

This classic ham and cheese quiche recipe is sure to become a favorite in your home – indulge in a bite of savory heaven by giving it a try today!
