As more people are shifting to remote work and education due to the pandemic, PDF has become a popular format for documents, presentations, and forms. While there are many paid PDF editors available, not everyone wants to spend money on software. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the best free PDF editors as of March 2023.

1. PDF-XChange Editor

PDF-XChange Editor has been around for over a decade and is still one of the best free PDF editors out there. It is packed with features such as adding comments, highlighting, filling out forms, and even OCR (optical character recognition) for scanned documents. The interface can be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to use.

2. Sejda PDF Editor

Sejda PDF Editor is a web-based editor that works on any browser and operating system. It has a simple interface that’s easy to navigate and offers plenty of features such as merging or splitting PDF files, adding watermarks, and editing text and images. Sejda PDF Editor also allows you to sign PDF documents electronically.

3. LibreOffice

LibreOffice is a free and open-source office suite that includes a PDF editor. It is similar to Microsoft Office and has a lot of the same features, including creating and editing PDF files. While the PDF editor in LibreOffice may not be as feature-packed as some of the other options on this list, it’s still a great option for basic PDF editing needs.

4. Inkscape

Inkscape is primarily a vector graphics editor, but it also has the ability to edit PDF files. It’s a great option if you need to edit PDF graphics or charts. Inkscape is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

5. GIMP

Like Inkscape, GIMP is primarily an image editor, but it also has some PDF editing capabilities. GIMP is best used for editing PDFs that are image-heavy rather than text-heavy. GIMP is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

In conclusion, there are many free PDF editors available, each with their own set of features and limitations. When choosing a PDF editor, consider which features you need, the ease of use, and the operating system you are using. With these options, you can edit and manipulate your PDF files without breaking the bank.
