Apple TV 4K (2022) Review: Excellent Streaming But Still Too Expensive

The new Apple TV 4K, released in 2022, has been generating buzz with its powerful streaming capabilities and stunning picture quality. However, its high price tag raises the question: is it worth the investment? In this article, we review the latest iteration of Apple’s premium streaming device, evaluating its features and weighing the pros and cons.

Design & Hardware

The Apple TV 4K (2022) retains the sleek, minimalist design of its predecessor. The compact black box easily blends into any modern home entertainment setup. Internally, Apple has upgraded the device with an A12 Bionic chip, enabling faster performance and enhanced graphics.

One major improvement for this year’s model is the revamped Siri Remote. The redesigned controller boasts a touch-sensitive clickpad, making navigation more intuitive and responsive. It also has a power button to control your TV, reducing the need for multiple remotes – a welcome change.

Picture & Sound Quality

The Apple TV 4K (2022) truly excels when it comes to picture and audio quality. With support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10, it delivers exceptional detail and color in compatible content. The device’s high refresh rate ensures smooth motion during fast-paced scenes and sports events.

Furthermore, Dolby Atmos compatibility provides an immersive audio experience on supported sound systems. These premium features give users access to a top-tier viewing experience that rivals many competitors.

Streaming Options & Apps

The wide variety of streaming options on the Apple TV 4K (2022) allows users to find content suited to their tastes. Popular apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, and more are readily available on the platform.

Moreover, the Apple TV app consolidates all your subscriptions into one location for easier browsing. With Siri integration, you can use voice commands to search for specific content across multiple apps, making it even simpler to find what you’re looking for.

Price

The major drawback of the Apple TV 4K (2022) is its hefty price tag. With a starting price of $179 for the 32GB model, it’s considerably more expensive than competitors like Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

Conclusion

The Apple TV 4K (2022) offers powerful streaming capabilities, excellent picture and sound quality, and a revamped Siri Remote – all wrapped in a sleek design. While these features make it an attractive choice for those invested in the Apple ecosystem, its high price might deter potential buyers comparing it to more affordable alternatives. For those unconcerned with the cost, however, the Apple TV 4K (2022) remains an impressive and comprehensive streaming device.
