Apple iPhone X Review: This iPhone XS Predecessor is Still a Contender

Introduction:

Launched in November 2017, the Apple iPhone X heralded a new era for Apple’s flagship smartphones. As the predecessor to the iPhone XS, it brought a slew of innovative features and an impressive design that set the stage for future models. Despite being on the market for several years and surpassed by newer models, the iPhone X still stands strong as a worthy contender in the world of smartphones.

Design:

At first glance, the iPhone X’s design is striking – sporting a nearly bezel-less display with a uniquely shaped notch housing various sensors. Measuring in at 5.8 inches with a Super Retina OLED panel providing clear and vibrant colors, users were introduced to an immersive experience that has since become standard in modern flagship phones.

The glass back not only gives the smartphone a sleek appearance but enables wireless charging – an added convenience many users appreciate. The device sports Apple’s trademark sturdy build quality, with a stainless-steel frame surrounding its edges and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.

Performance:

The iPhone X is powered by Apple’s A11 Bionic chip, which, even now, remains competitive with its current-gen counterparts. With six cores comprising two high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores, this chip brings ample processing power to tackle everyday tasks to graphics-heavy gaming with ease.

Face ID:

With Touch ID making way for facial recognition technology, Face ID was another groundbreaking feature introduced with the iPhone X. The TrueDepth camera system accurately scans the user’s face using thousands of infrared dots mapped through complex algorithms. As seen in real-world usage, Face ID not only provides a high level of security but also swift access to your device.

Camera:

The iPhone X features dual 12-megapixel cameras on the rear side – one wide-angle lens and another telephoto lens – supported by optical image stabilization offering crisp, clear shots in various lighting conditions. The device also introduced “Portrait Lighting,” which adds professional-quality effects to portrait photos.

On the front, the TrueDepth camera allows for Portrait Mode and Animoji – animated emoji that track facial expressions for a fun and engaging messaging experience.

Battery Life:

Equipped with a 2,716mAh battery, the iPhone X offers respectable battery life that can last through a full day of mixed-use. While not industry-leading today, it’s still sufficient for most users’ daily requirements.

Conclusion:

Even as newer models have entered the market, the Apple iPhone X continues to be an attractive choice for those seeking a flagship smartphone experience without the latest model’s price tag. Its design, performance, camera quality, and Face ID technology all contribute to its competitiveness among modern smartphones. If you’re considering an iPhone without breaking the bank, the iPhone X is still a solid contender worth your attention.
