Windows 10 is the latest operating system from Microsoft, and it comes with a lot of features that differentiate it from its predecessors. One of the most significant features is the search function, which allows users to quickly and easily discover files, apps, and documents on their computer.

Unfortunately, not everyone is familiar with this feature and how to search for files on Windows. In this article, we’ll explain how to search for files in Windows 10 and make the process very smooth.

  1. Use the Search Box

One way to look for files in Windows 10 is to use the search box. The search box can be found in the bottom left corner beside the Windows icon on the taskbar. Simply click on it and start typing the name of the file or document you are looking for. As you type, Windows will automatically display files and documents that match your search query.

  1. Use File Explorer

Another way to search for files on Windows 10 is to use File Explorer. File Explorer is an app that allows you to manage your files and folders on your computer. To use this feature, click on the File Explorer icon on your taskbar or press the Windows key + E on your keyboard. Once you have File Explorer open, click on the Search box at the top right corner of the app and type in the name of the file or document you are looking for. File Explorer will display all files and documents that match your search query.

  1. Use Cortana Search

Cortana is a virtual assistant that comes with Windows 10. One of the features of Cortana is that it can help you search for files on your computer. To use this feature, click on the Cortana icon on your taskbar and type in the name of the file or document you are looking for, and then click on the Documents category to filter your search. Cortana will display all files and documents that match your search query.

  1. Use Advanced Search

Windows 10 also comes with Advanced Search, which allows you to search for files using more specific criteria, such as the file type, date modified, size, and other options. To access the Advanced Search, open File Explorer and click on the Search box at the top right corner of the app. Once the search box opens, click on the Open Advanced Search button at the bottom left corner of the box. This will bring up the Advanced Search settings, and you can fill in the criteria you want to use to search for your file.

In conclusion, searching for files in Windows 10 is very easy and straightforward. Whether you use the Search box, File Explorer, Cortana, or Advanced Search, you can quickly find the files and documents you need on your computer. Make use of these tips to find your files quickly and save time moving forward.
