Google Assistant is a convenient tool for hands-free assistance to answer your queries and perform tasks. However, there can be instances when it’s not working correctly. If you encounter the “OK Google not working” error on your device, there are several ways to fix it. In this article, we have compiled 12 ways to troubleshoot the problem and get your Google Assistant up and running again.

1. Check your internet connection:

The first step to fixing “OK Google not working” is to ensure that your device is connected to the internet. Google Assistant requires an internet connection to function correctly, so make sure you’re connected to a stable network and test it.

2. Ensure that Google Apps are up-to-date:

Make sure you have the latest version of Google Apps installed on your device, including the Google App and Google Play Services. Outdated apps can cause issues with Google Assistant, so update the apps from the Google Play Store.

3. Turn on the Google Assistant:

Make sure the Google Assistant is enabled on your device. To check, open the Google App, tap the three-dash menu, choose “Settings,” and tap on “Google Assistant.” Ensure the toggle switch is turned on.

4. Check microphone permissions:

Google Assistant requires microphone permission to function. Go to “Settings” > “Apps” > “Google App” > “Permissions” on your phone and ensure the “microphone” toggle is enabled.

5. Train the Voice Model:

If the “OK Google not working” problem persists, try retraining the voice model to ensure better recognition. Open the Google Assistant settings, tap on “Voice Match,” select “Retrain Voice Model,” and follow the instructions.

6. Restart your device:

Restarting your device can sometimes resolve the issue. Press and hold the power button on your phone and select “Restart.”

7. Clear the Cache and Data:

In the settings of your Android phone, go to “Apps,” select the “Google” app, and find the “Storage” option. Clear cache and data, restart the device, and check if the issue persists.

8. Turn on Unlock with Voice Match:

If you can’t activate the Google Assistant without unlocking your phone first, ensure that “Unlock with Voice Match” is turned on. Go to “Settings” > “Security & Location” > “Smart Lock” > “Trusted Voice.”

9. Check Language and Region Settings:

Ensure that your device language and region settings are correctly set up for the Google Assistant. Go to “Settings” > “System” > “Languages & Input” on your device and make sure the language is set correctly.

10. Check battery saver settings:

If your device runs on battery saver mode, Google Assistant may not work correctly. Disable battery saver mode to check if the problem persists.

11. Test on a different device:

If you’re still having the “OK Google not working” issue after trying all the above troubleshoots, test the Google Assistant on a different device to ensure it’s functioning correctly.

12. Contact Google Support:

If none of the above troubleshooting steps can fix the “OK Google not working” issue, contact Google Support for further assistance.

In conclusion, the above twelve ways should help you solve the “OK Google not working” issue on your device. Follow the steps one by one until you find the solution that works for you. Having your Google Assistant working again will make your life easier and more productive.
