Google Docs is a versatile platform that has made document creation and collaboration seamless. The platform has a range of editing tools that are easy to use and efficient. One such tool is the ability to strikethrough text.
Strikethrough is a formatting option that is commonly used in document creation. It is useful when you want to indicate that text should be deleted or isn’t relevant anymore. Strikethrough text is usually displayed with a horizontal line through the middle, indicating that the text is no longer valid or important.
If you’re new to Google Docs and need to know how to strikethrough text, you’re in the right place. In this article, you’ll learn how to strikethrough text using different methods.

Method 1: Using the Toolbar

The most common and easiest way to strikethrough text in Google Docs is by using the toolbar. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open your document in Google Docs.
2. Highlight the text that you want to strikethrough.
3. Click on the Format drop-down menu on the toolbar.
4. Navigate to Text and click on it.
5. Select the Strikethrough option.
6. The selected text will now have a horizontal line through the middle, indicating that it’s been strikethrough.

Method 2: Using a Keyboard Shortcut

Using a keyboard shortcut is a faster way to add strikethrough text in Google Docs. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open your document in Google Docs.
2. Highlight the text you want to strikethrough.
3. Press the Alt + Shift + 5 keys simultaneously.
4. The selected text will now have a horizontal line through the middle, indicating that it’s been strikethrough.

Method 3: Using the Google Docs Mobile App

If you’re using the Google Docs mobile app, you can also easily strikethrough text. Here’s how:

1. Open your document on the Google Docs mobile app.
2. Highlight the text you want to strikethrough
3. Tap on the “A” icon on the formatting bar.
4. Navigate to Text and tap on it.
5. Select the Strikethrough option.
6. The selected text will now have a horizontal line through the middle, indicating that it’s been strikethrough.

In conclusion, strikethrough is a useful formatting option that is easy to apply in Google Docs. You can use any of the methods mentioned above, depending on your preference, to strikethrough text in your documents. Applying strikethrough text makes it easy to highlight information that is no longer relevant or needs to be deleted. It’s a simple yet powerful tool that can make your documents more clear and concise.
