In-app purchases have become a popular way to add premium features or purchase additional content in mobile apps. However, they can also be a source of surprise charges and unexpected expenses, especially for parents of young children who may unknowingly make purchases in games or other apps. Fortunately, both Android and iPhone devices have options to turn off in-app purchases, providing a simple way to manage app expenses and prevent unwanted charges.

Turning off in-app purchases on Android devices:

1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
2. Tap the three lines in the top left corner to open the menu.
3. Select “Settings” from the menu options.
4. Scroll down and find “User Controls” and then tap “Parental Controls”.
5. Toggle the “Parental Controls” switch to ON.
6. Choose a PIN code to create a password.
7. Scroll down and toggle the switch for “Use PIN for purchases” to ON.
8. Enter your chosen PIN code to confirm your selection.
9. Under the “Apps & games” section of the Parental Controls menu, select the appropriate age range for content restrictions.

Turning off in-app purchases on iPhone devices:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap “Screen Time”.
3. Tap “Content & Privacy Restrictions” and toggle the switch to ON.
4. Enter your chosen Screen Time passcode or create one.
5. Under the content restrictions section, select “iTunes & App Store Purchases.”
6. Tap “In-app Purchases” and set the toggle to OFF.

Once the in-app purchases are turned off, users will need to enter a password or screen time passcode each time they purchase or attempt to purchase content within the app. This can provide peace of mind for parents and anyone who wants to ensure control over their app expenses.

In conclusion, turning off in-app purchases on Android or iPhone can be easy and quick to do, and it helps prevent surprise expenses on your mobile device. Whether it’s for your own protection or your child’s safety, we hope that these simple steps will help you enjoy your mobile experience while staying in control of your expenses.
