As we all know, Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) play a critical role in running modern-day games and other high-performance applications. Therefore, it’s essential to monitor your GPU usage to avoid system crashes, overheating, and other issues.

Fortunately, on Windows 11, you can keep an eye on your GPU usage and see which applications are consuming the most resources. In this article, we’ll show you how to check what’s using your GPU in Windows 11.

Step 1: Open Task Manager

The first step to check your GPU usage is to open the Task Manager. You can do this quickly by pressing the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys simultaneously, or you can right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager.

Step 2: Check Your GPU Utilization

After opening the Task Manager, click the Performance tab located on the top menu bar. Now, find the GPU section on the left-side menu, or click on the “GPU” option, and you’ll see the GPU utilization and memory usage.

Step 3: Analyze the GPU Utilization

Once you see the GPU utilization percentage, you can scroll down to see the GPU utilization for each running application or process. You can sort them by memory or time by clicking on the respective column header.

The most resource-intensive apps will have the highest GPU utilization percentage, and you can use this information to identify applications that may be slowing down your computer or causing it to crash.

Step 4: End Resource-Intensive Processes

If you identify any resource-intensive processes that are not required, you can end them by right-clicking on the process and selecting End task. However, be cautious when ending processes as it may cause unexpected data loss for ongoing tasks, and it may even lead to system instability.

Step 5: Monitor GPU Usage in Real-time

Windows 11 also provides a real-time view of your GPU utilization. You can enable the GPU graph by right-clicking on the GPU section and selecting “Graph Summary.” Now, you can keep an eye on the GPU utilization and memory usage, and you can identify applications that consume the most resources quickly.

Conclusion

In conclusion, monitoring your GPU usage is essential in maintaining your computer’s stability, performance, and reliability. Windows 11 provides an easy-to-use tool- Task Manager- that helps you monitor your GPU utilization, identify resource-hungry apps, and end unwanted processes. By monitoring your GPU usage, you can optimize your PC’s performance and avoid unexpected crashes and system instability.
